The Bluffs

Can you believe this place is in Ontario??? I think it's the closest thing we have to a tropical beach. It was my first trip to The Bluffs or "Bluffers Park" several weeks ago and I'm so glad I brought camera along for the trip! Below are some of my photos. If you haven't already been, maybe these images will entice you to pay a visit.

A + D | Our Wedding Day

tara-mcmullen-photography-toronto-wedding-loveonsunday I'm so excited to finally share some photos from our wedding day, I've been meaning to do it for months now! The weeks leading up to the big day were truly memorable. Late nights putting invitations together and creating succulent centrepieces...all with my favourite people. I feel so blessed to have such handy and resourceful parents who helped me build everything from the custom centrepieces (which my dad built by hand from scrap pallet wood) to my Mom creating all the flower arrangements.

The Happy Blogger Photography Workshop + A Winner

the happy blogger studio I love photography. And I'm talking about real photos, not the ones you filter and post on Instagram. It takes real skill, a good eye and years of training to capture beautiful, high-resolution photographs which is why I really respect artists who do this for a living. Being a blogger and designer, I obviously love the perfectly styled photos that you see in magazines but what I also find fascinating are images that tell a story.

So when my girl Melissa from The Sweet Escape decided to hold a photography workshop with the crazy talented Maya Visnyei, I knew it would be a great opportunity for me to learn more about this craft.

Of course we had some fun photoshoots and some yummy treats to devour...

I've had my camera for several years now so I do know my way around it pretty well but I was eager to pick up any tips and tricks from a seasoned pro. Maya was so helpful and answered all of our questions no matter how basic they were! Some things I did take away from the workshop were how to manually set the white balance on your photographs with a grey card (what a difference that makes!) and how to set up a simple light box in your home. Maya's studio has amazing natural light so it didn't take much to get me inspired. Here are some shots I took that day:

Overall, I had a great time and it was fun to be around other individuals who were eager to learn more about photography. Thanks Melissa and Maya for such a great workshop!

friday Insta-love

For those of you who follow me on Instagram, you know I love to post about pretty and inspiring things. Beauty is everywhere and I'm constantly inspired. So today I've rounded up some of my recent faves:

clockwise:

1. David and I have been hunting for reception venues and we found a really strong contendor. I just love places with history and character and this area charmed me right from the get-go.

2. Name art. A simple and easy present to give any loved one. I'm really happy with the way it turned out. I'm thinking this would be great to give as xmas presents too. Do you have name or typography art in your home?

3. Now that fall is here, I feel like bringing out some warmer tones and colours. But my gold West Elm and kilim pillow seem to work all year round; love the versatility. I hope to infuse bold patterns in other areas of my home.

4. My cousin got married last saturday. She was a stunning bride and it was definitely one of my favourite weddings. I could feel the love and genuine respect they have for one another which is so beautiful. Also, what a party, my feet were sore from dancing all night long!

So if we aren't already, let's be Instagram friends! I'm usually posting about decor, thrifty finds or cute kiddies so if you like any or all of the above you can follow me here. Or if you want to follow me out of sheer nosiness that's cool too ;)

Happy Friday! xo

NYC Bound!

nyc photo by loveonsunday>

Back in November, I wrote <a href=a post about how I was missing NYC. Well, in exactly 24 hours from now I will be stepping off the plane and arriving at one of my favourite cities. I'm so excited! Can ya tell?

My boyfriend surprised me with not only a trip to NYC but also tickets to see Queen B herself, Mrs. Carter! I'm one lucky girl, aren't I? He really is amazing. I've been so busy lately so this will be the perfect getaway for us to spend some quality time together. He scored some serious points with this one; waaay beyond brownie points I would say :)

We're going to do a few things we missed last time like: The Brooklyn Flea, biking in Central Park, Yankee Stadium and the Brooklyn Bridge (can't believe we missed this last time). I will probably take about 500 photos easily on this trip. My camera and I will be inseparable!

Have a great weekend everyone and to my Canadian readers, enjoy the long weekend!

The Junction Flea

Ain't nothin' like a good ol' flea market to get you up early on a Sunday morning. Armed with my camera and dressed in way too many layers, my Mom and I made our way towards our first flea market of the year - The Junction Flea. I scored an AMAZING find but you'll have to make it to the end to see what I found!

I LOVED the vendors! Despite the cold winds, rain and hail they were all super friendly and nice. I also loved the booth styling and little details. I'm talking custom trailers, pennant flags and some really pretty signage. Needless to say, I went a little camera happy so I hope you enjoy the photos!. If you're thinking of checking it out, the Junction Flea takes place on the second Sunday of every month, the next one being June 9th. You can also check out their website here.

Here are a few stores that were in attendance: Bright Brown Vintage, Reservoir Vintage, World Headquarters, Tattered and Torn and Manual Labour Coffee.

Oh, and here's the best part. My fab find: a beautiful and bright mosaic side table for the balcony. I spotted this right away because of the colours. I love the tapered legs as well. And for $35? C'mon!

This gorgeous table has really become the jumping off point for my balcony. I knew I wanted to incorporate bright colours and this will help pull everything together. I can't wait to get working on it! Have a great Monday all!

My Brass Side Table

No bar cart? Why not a bar side table?

Living in a small condo has forced us to come up with some creative solutions. Since we have two entrances into our balcony and barely need to venture out there with the cold weather and all, we decided to utilize a corner of our tiny living room to house our makeshift bar cart. I have to credit my Mom on this fab find. She found this set of brass tables at a local thrift shop for a whopping $17! I'm telling you, this woman has a horseshoe up her arse whenever she goes thrifting. It amazes me.

Knowing I was looking for a small table to house our expanding liquor collection (note: I am not an alcoholic. I'm actually a lightweight). She sent me this pic to see if I would be interested. And to which I replied, "hellzzz yeah!"

And here's what I've done with it. Everything else I already had to complete the look such as the tray I found for $7 at an antique shop and the vase and liquor jar which were also thrift finds. The small but beautiful brown and white capiz jar was a gift from an old roomie and it's one of my favourite things. I decided to remove the second nested table and use it elsewhere in the condo. Instead, I've placed my basket of books and magazines underneath which also holds extra glasses and napkins. All together, this cost me under $30. Not bad at all!

Seeing that last photo makes me want to change up my curtains. Like paint a trim or add some fun pom poms like this. What do you think, yes or no?

Happy almost Friday! xoxo

Spring in My Home

Happy Tuesday! Can you believe it's almost MAY? It sure hasn't felt like Spring lately and I'm pretty sure this time last year we were already in shorts. So I decided to visit my fave flower shop and bring home some Spring of my own.

I love waking up to sunshine and fresh flowers...

Have a great day everyone!
