Hello! It’s that time again — I’m gearing up to join the Spring edition of the One Room Challenge. A massive design event created by Linda from Calling it Home, where hundreds of designers, decorators and bloggers accept the challenge of transforming a space in 6 short weeks. Much like last time, I'll be joining in the fun as a guest participant.
If you followed my process during the Fall edition, you may remember my office makeover. This time around I’ve decided to tackle my bedroom. We've been in our home for almost a year now and the bedroom still doesn’t feel like the sanctuary I’ve been longing to create. So, this challenge is the perfect opportunity to get my ass in gear. Let’s do this!
As you can tell, it's very bare. I've paired down a lot since I started working for myself. That includes clothing, furniture and just 'stuff' in general. I'm hoping the end result will still be bright, relaxed and gender neutral but here are the key things I hope to accomplish in this room:
1/ Add a small vanity area.
I wouldn't even call it a vanity. Just a place where I can sit and do my makeup for 10 mins before I run out the door.
2/ Find a rug.
I think it would really warm up the space. would love something right in front of the closet.
3/ Figure out the headboard situation.
Paint? Wallpaper? Shelves? I'm still undecided.
We need a new chandelier/pendant over the bed. i Also need to figure out the lamp situation by the bed.
Kijiji or craigslist?
6/ Window coverings.
Those blinds have got to go.
obviously. i'm planning to diy it. somehow.
8/ Style my closet.
I actually don't mind the white sliding closet doors but the inside definitely needs to be styled.
And I think that covers it! Check back next week to get more details on my concept board and any progress I've made! Also, if you're looking to find some added inspiration for your makeover or home, check out the One Room Challenge featured designers here and the other guest participants here. There's a TON of projects by some of my favourite designers and bloggers!
Hope to see you back next week!
