My Bridal Shower

With my wedding less than a month away, life has been extra busy the past couple of months.  With a guestlist of about 120, my parents and I have decided to tackle this in true DIY fashion.  I'm talking handmade custom centrepieces, decor and invitations.  I can't wait to share with you all the fun projects we've been working on lately but first, here's a peek of the beautiful bridal shower my Mom and girls threw for me a couple of weekends ago.

The scene:  A beautiful rooftop venue decorated with flowers straight from my Mom's garden.  A signature pink Mojito as well as delicious food from one of my favourite caterers.  A pretty sweet table created by one of my bridesmaids, cute giveaways, prizes and games and of course a room filled with my most favourite ladies.

A Mini Girls Getaway

This weekend myself and 7 other lovely ladies will be leaving for a mini-girls getaway. I'm hoping the weather cooperates because I plan on getting a large dose of vitamin D. I feel like I've been in a little rut lately and I'm hoping some sun, relaxation and estrogen overload will do the trick. All of us girls have been friends since high school (some even longer) so I feel really blessed to be able to spend some quality time with these chicas. It's been waaaay to long and there is so much to catch up on!

On another note, I've never won anything online and this pillow from Amber Interior Design would be an amazing first! So crossing my fingers that this pillow will soon be mine-oh-mine.

Cheers to a lovely weekend everyone! xoxo

Weekend Fun

How was everyone's weekend? I hope everyone got outside to enjoy the amazing weather! My weekend was filled with softball, baseball, family and of course some kind of creative project thrown into the mix. My boyfriend and cousins play on a softball team and I just love watching their games when the weather is beautiful outside. Also, who wouldn't want to watch with this little cutie by your side? My cousin's niece Taylor was all ready to play with her own pink glove and baseball! Their team is called the Blue Jays, and how appropriate that we went to watch the real Jays play right after? The Jays lost but I still love them. #gojaysgo!

And I know I promised no more Louis updates but I'm sad to say that the upholstery fabric I wanted from Designer Fabrics is on backorder and they don't even know when they will be receiving more of it! So if any of you bloggers/DIYers are reading this, can you please help a girl out and recommend any other fabric stores that would sell some nice upholstery velvet? If I can't find anything similar to what I really, really want then I will have to go with my second choice, *SIGH*. As you can see I got my wonderful and super-sweet BF to help out with the Louis stripping and we got a lot accomplished. Thanks love :) Please note: I MADE him wear those safety glasses. Those staples have a mind of their own!

My parents also have this trestle coffee table that they're in the midst of stripping and we were throwing out some ideas on how to re-work it.

Paint it white? Paint it black? Leave it natural? We were even toying with idea of separating the 2 pieces and using the base to make a bench and the top as a separate coffee table with some modern legs. What do you think? Happy Monday Everyone! xoxo

Pura Vida

Returning from the beautiful country of Costa Rica has left me so inspired. The amazing views, culture, food and way of life was so refreshing. Vacations not only help me relax and de-stress, but also reflect on goals and priorities. I sometimes struggle to maintain that work-life balance or even leave my cellphone off for a day so this vacation was much needed. I feel so blessed and thankful to be able to travel and experience Costa Rica, and of course watch my two friends Michelle and Khaled have the wedding of their dreams.

We stayed at a gorgeous hotel, The Westin Playa Conchal in Liberia. Of course the design and decor didn't go unnoticed. Here are some of my favourite areas:

On our second day we decided to visit the town of Tamarindo, a nearby surf town:

We did an all-day adventure tour which was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. We hiked and zip lined through the rainforest, jumped into a waterfall, went horse-back riding and ate some delicious food...

And of course, witnessed a beautiful wedding ceremony located under this ginormous tree..

Stunning, isn't it? Congrats to the happy couple!

I couldn't have asked for a better vacation. Relaxation, adventure and great company. I'm missing the 40 degree weather, vibrant colours and delicious food. I've already started incorporating some brighter colours in my home and will be cooking my first Costa Rican/Central American dish next week. Now if mother nature would just cooperate, I'll be all set.

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend. PURA VIDA!

Happy Valentine's Day

Today I feel extra thankful. Thankful for my amazing boyfriend, my wonderful parents, my cousins, girlfriends and everyone reading this. For me, it's not about the presents or the fancy dinners, it's about showing your love and appreciation for the special people in your life. So whether you're married, dating or single, I hope you enjoy the day with someone you love.

What can I say, I'm a little cheezy and emotional today. Enjoy!

Christmas Baking

I've been baking non-stop since last night. This afternoon is my annual girlfriends Secret Santa Extravaganza. I'm giving them each some homemade chocolate chip cookies. I wouldn't call myself a baker but I found this super-cute craft ribbon which I love. HOHOHO, Merry Christmas!

Family Photoshoot

My cousin Tracey wanted to do a winter photoshoot a couple of weekends ago. We weren't blessed with any snow, but boy was it ever cold! Needless to say, I had to move as quickly as possible since frostbite was starting to kick in. Below are some of my favourite shots from that day:

Numero Uno

Welcome to my blog! I thought I would kick this off in true vintage fashion by posting this amazing family portrait I found. That's me with the crimped bangs and the red MC Hammer pants (thank God we're sitting down in this pic). Although slight embarassing, there's so many things I love about this photo:

  1. My dad's C.C sweatshirt. He's so stylin' and handsome. I bet he still has that one too
  2. My bro's haircut. This was his cute phase, before he grew the big a$$ and Ivan Drago hair
  3. My mom's jewelry. I love the black and gold necklace and I would totally rock that right now

What a blast from the past. I love my family to bits and I'm sure you will see more of them on here. That's it for now, hope to see you again soon!
